Editorial Policy

Wishaw Insider aims to be a neighbour’s field notes: plain-speaking, warm and practical. We focus on useful local details — where a service is, what part of town it relates to and what readers may need to check before they go.

What we cover

We publish business spotlights, restaurant guides, shopping recommendations, community features and practical service information. We include local places and organisations when they genuinely help readers understand a topic or make a nearby choice. We do not add place names simply to repeat “Wishaw”.

Getting the geography right

Wishaw town centre, Main Street, The Cross and the Houldsworth Centre are central reference points. Coltness, Cambusnethan, Wishawhill, Pather, Greenhead, Dimsdale and other localities have their own context and should not be treated as identical areas.

Newmains, Overtown, Cleland, Carluke, Law and Morningside are distinct nearby settlements. Motherwell is a neighbouring town, not a Wishaw neighbourhood. University Hospital Wishaw is in Wishaw; Motherwell Concert Hall and Theatre and Strathclyde Country Park are associated with neighbouring Motherwell and the wider regional area. We aim to make those distinctions clear.

History and community life

Wishaw’s coal-mining, ironworking, steelmaking, distilling and engineering history forms part of its industrial identity and the wider story of Lanarkshire. That is valuable context, but we do not imply that the historic industries describe all of Wishaw’s present-day economy. We distinguish confirmed history from local recollection, and current regeneration plans from completed work.

Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park, Perchy Pond, Cambusnethan Woods and Belhaven Park show another side of the area. Access, facilities and events can change, so we avoid promising that a particular route or activity will be available without checking current information.

Sources and changing details

We aim to use reliable sources close to the subject, such as North Lanarkshire Council, the business, venue, event organiser, transport operator or public service. Business status, opening hours, menus, prices, school details, bus and rail services, fixtures and event programmes can change. We check current details where practical and do not assume an event returns each year.

We do not invent business names, addresses, telephone numbers, prices, reviews, statistics, hours or service coverage. Where a detail matters to a reader’s plans, we encourage checking with the organisation concerned.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

Wishaw Insider is an information and recommendations site. A mention or listing is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify that clearly. Commercial arrangements do not in themselves determine our editorial view.

Corrections and updates

If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page address, the detail in question and, if possible, a reliable source. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; for a substantial correction, we may add an editorial note to the page.

A request from a business or individual does not automatically require us to remove content. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.

Scope and limitations

Our guides are selective, not a complete directory of every business, service, attraction or event in Wishaw. Inclusion does not guarantee quality or availability, and absence does not imply criticism. Please confirm important details with the organisation concerned.
